Imagine…

Been watching a DVD tribute to John Lennon. Watching all the old footage of the concerts and the fashions etc really made me surprisingly homesick for ‘the old days.
Quite sad really… time has flown on and like a lot of ‘older people’ I recall the days of my youth with some affection and regret for [...]

On a theme

We had some really sad news from the UK today. Seems my mothers oldest friend is seriously ill and unlikely to last overnight. She has kidney failure, pneumonia and a number of other ailments.
She and my mother have known each other for over 80 years. They were children in school together, They grew up in [...]

The oldies part 2??

My parents as you may remember, came over last year for Xmas and stayed until Easter before leaving for home and the warmth of the UK summer.
They are are now suggesting coming back *this* year for the same deal… a six month stint - if they can manage it. And there’s the run as Shakespeare [...]

Next Week

Next week will be the big push… again. All the web sites are in dire need of some serious work and the labour intensive nature of the auto-surf business (plus the sickness etc) made it impossible to concentrate on areas that in retrospect might well have produced more income that I was hoping for with [...]

Moneymaking

Hmmm… the collapse in the price of gold led to the demise of many of the sites I was involved with resulting in my losing great chunks of income. Had I more experience I might well have weathered the storm better but I didn’t, and I didn’t.
However, as with all things, you live and learn. [...]

Israel overreacts.

The blatant overreaction of Israel to the abduction of one of its solders comes as no surprise. The tact approval of the USA is hardly a surprise either. Both parties are pushing for all out war in the Middle-East between the supporters of the USA and ‘the others’, mainly Syria and Iran.
USA has been itching [...]

Depression stinks.

I hate being depressed. Makes a mess of everything you do. relationships suffer, your general day to day life suffers. Long term prospects suffer…. not matter which part of your life you look at its affected. And then there’s the effect it has on those around you… and knowing you’re disturbing *their* lives just makes [...]

Wordpress Themes

Ok - found a pretty good theme which will keep the site going until I find something better. I quite like the look of it but it isn’t exactly right… I suppose in reality I ought to get some practice in and try to modify it a bit… but nah… can’t be bothered

Gawd I’m bored

Been ‘one of those days’. Started off with one child going on an ‘access visit’ to its birth mother… followed by a visit to the post office to post a couple of letters… then to the solicitors for yet another round of the Landscaping Saga which is still playing on after three years.
From there the [...]

Wordpress

Just learned there’s been a further software upgrade. The version I have is 2.05 but now 2.1 is released so I’ll be doing some upgrading soon. I might also look around for a few more themes to see if I can brighten the place up a bit. This theme was ok for it’s purpose but [...]

Chicken Pox - recurrent?

The friend I was just chatting to also said one of her other kids has come down with chicken pox despite having had the injections. In fact *three* of his class have come down with it and all of *them* also had the injections.
I’m wondering if the vaccine wasn’t quite as effective as we’d thought [...]

ADHD ? Wassat?

Just had a call from a friend who told me her 6 year old child has just been prescribed Ritalin because she has 3 of the markers for ADHD.
I’m not one to argue with experts… once I’ve learned as much about their specialism as they have… and I don’t know anywhere near enough about either [...]

Getting back on track slowly.

Taking far longer than I thought to get my self back to work. We’ve had a lot going on including the ongoing saga of the landscaper… and we’ve had three kids to stay… and now it’s slightky eased
The house is still a mess, made worse by the kids who seemed hell bent on [...]
