The friends

Had a card from friends in London. Seems they’re in Greece enjoying an expensive, if pale by comparison, imitation of the wonderful weather we get here all year round for free… ha…!!
Seems Steve just bought a share in some Nigerian Bank scam or similar… as far as I could work out he’s expecting three million [...]

Elvis has left the building

Spurious anniversary maybe but Elvis died on August the 16th… I never liked him.

I worry myself sometimes.

The light has been out in one of the upstairs toilets for the past week… and idle me has been trying to wait until the wife got fed up and did it for me. Sadly she didn;t take a single one of the innumerable hints I (and the kids) have dropped so I finally decided [...]

The brother.

Seems all the exercise my little brother has been doing over the past 40+ years has produced an enlarged heart. We hope that’s all it is and there’s no lasting damage. He’s due for a scan this week and we’re waiting to hear how it went.
Hopefully he’ll get through ok.

The sister.

My sister seems to have joined the international jet set as a ‘groupie grannie’. Since retiring she’s taken to zooming around the UK and Europe following el Divo and has just flown off to the USA see a Ricki Martin concert with tickets she won online!
We were a bit worried about her because [...]

So - the landscaper…

Well it was also interesting in its own way.
We arrived in court, and before the case was heard we had a short discussion with the paralegal who told us (again) all that was going to happen was that a date would be set for the hearing and that we’d probably win that as well because [...]

Hail, hail springs almost here.

The first hailstorm of the season arrived yesterday for some parts of Sydney. Luckily for us we only caught the edges of it and the storm gathered force as it moved towards the City. No damage luckily, just weird scenes (for Sydney) of hail ankle deep on the Anzac Bridge looking for all the world [...]

Pouring here.

Not written for a few days but I thought I’d drop in a note to say it’s pouring… in fact there’s a storm out there. Nice
Have to go ge the kids in a few mins… but when I come back I need to update this with the story of the court case, the [...]

L-Day + ?

Grrr…. just had a call from the solicitor who says all that will happen tomorrow is that we go to court, the magistrate will ask if we’ve reached a settlement, we’ll say no, and *then* they’ll set a date for a proper hearing.
Gawd… I know we wanted to drag this out to get some sense [...]

L-day tomorrow!

L is for Landscaper. Tomorrow we finally get to have this ongoing saga put to bed. Well I’m assuming it will be tomorrow. SInce the last time I wrote anything on this all sorts of things have happened.
We’ve been to court three times, well would have except once we forgot and we had to enlist [...]

Our Anniversary on Friday

Hard to believe we’ve been married 23 years! Seems like days, but forever at the same time Either way it’ll never be long enough. The only time I fel really relaxed and comfortable is around the wife and I’m lost when she’s not here.

Up in de morning…

… slaving for bread Sah… so dat every mout can be fedddd… pooor me…. etc
Damn dogs got me up at 5:00 a.m. this morning… could have killed them. Too early to get up, too late to go back. Sat working through the paid emails… only 50 or so far. Worth it? Not sure… it takes [...]

The Library

The daughter went off to school today with two bulging bags of books. All of them were books she’d borrowed from the school library and neglected to return. In fact she had so many on loan that they told her she wasn’t allowed any more until the outstanding ones were all returned.
Luckily, as a school [...]

More interviews

So the wife’s had yet another interview. Lately she seems to be the head-hunters favourite target. She follows up most of their enquiries simply because you can never tell what’s on the end of it and it’d be sad to miss an opportunity just because you’re stubborn.
As always though they weren’t willing to divulge the [...]

Dander?

Ever wondered what a dander is or how one gets it up??
Perhaps if you know you’d like to let the rest of us know

Load of crap?

All of us over age 55 are due to receive a bowel cancer testing kit in the post next week. How you’re supposed to fill their little pot up isn’t clear right now but I suppose I’ll have to work it out…
… with a pencil maybe??

Damn cold this morning!

For reasons I still don’t fully understand… being almost asleep… the wife’s alarm went off at 5:30 this morning and up she got to shower and get ready to go off to work. This early? I thought she’d finished having to go in early once all the redundancies she’s been handling had all gone through…. [...]

Yet more family.

Was talking last night to my eldest daughter - well messaging her actually, she’s in the UK so I’ve not seen her for a year or two.
She was commenting that I’d not written anything about her which is true. In some ways she’s probably better off that way…
To confound the [...]

The gorgon.

Not sure what brought this to mind but a few years there used to be a family living n the street with a mother I used to call ‘the gorgon’. Not because she was hideously ugly, though I’d not have fancied her. but more because she was so far up herself she could see daylight [...]

Talking of family.

Seems my son is on the move back in the UK. I’ve not got any idea where he’s gone… I hardly ever hear from him… and never at all from his wife. In fact the last time we heard from her was a curt email complaining because we’d let the wife’s cancer interfere with her [...]
