The gorgon.

Not sure what brought this to mind but a few years there used to be a family living n the street with a mother I used to call ‘the gorgon’. Not because she was hideously ugly, though I’d not have fancied her. but more because she was so far up herself she could see daylight through her nostrils!
The ‘gorgon’ nick is a diminutive of gorgonzola… that smelly Italian cheese. The permanent sneer on her face made her look to me as if she had a smear of it on her upper lip.
I’ve not identified her for obvious reasons, but I think even if I’d written her name she’d not have believed it was her
