After her quick sojourn in sunny London (where as usual she was worked too hard) the wife has decamped and is making her way up to even sunnier Edinburgh… and the best of luck to her I say.

Current predictions for the granite city are maximum temperatures of 12ºC (minimum 3ºC) and overcast skies. Actually… that could be Edinburgh at any time of year!!

Sadly our friends in that fair city have decided the weather in Florida suits their bones a little better so have disappeared for a holiday. Of course… it *could* be they had advance warning the wife was coming and got out fast!! Well you never know!!

Eh… paranoid?? Me?? Why do you say that…what have you heard?? Are people talking about me again?? Y’know I can hear them in the TV whispering and plotting… always plotting and whispering… but they’ll never get me… NEVER I say!!! Ahahahahaha……

… or something :D

Anyway… errr… good luck Edinburgh. I hope the hotel has a better internet link that the Hilton who’s link spent more time falling in and out than actually functioning properly!! Grrr…..

Yes indeedy. The Leonid Meteor Shower will hit earth once again on November 17th – 18th (give or take a week) about 11:00 p.m. At least that’s when it’ll hit the Northern hemisphere. I’m afraid I’ve not yet worked out when those of us in Australia will be able to see it properly.

Either way, I think none of us is due for another magic lights show that fills the skies for some years… possibly decades but I could be wrong. Actually, there are signs that Jupiter might have altered the path of the meteor itself… so it may be the light show could be missing for some hundreds of years!

In the interim, if the path of some of the remnant dust from the meteor coincides with Earth’s orbit again we might yet get a light show… albeit much reduced… but after all that has to be better than no show… eh?? . :)

For more info go to this NASA Site. Best of luck for a clear night :)

Kids have to be in school at 8:30 a.m. so it’s a fairly quiet start to the day. Not sure how I’ll go in the gym since my toe still hurts (I forgot to soak it in hot salty water last night… I was too tired when I got in) but I’ll try and see where it gets me.

I really need to get into one of the garden beds in the front of the house so if I get back before the heat picks up I’ll make a start weeding it. I already have petunias and a few small bushy plants to go in so I really need to get it going. I won’t be able to do it this weekend because of the carnival… more on that later! The wife just arrived online :)

While I was at the GP, she had a look at my blood tests from last April and told me my B12 count was very low. Leaving aside the question of why it took so long for them to tell me… she thought I might have been vegetarian… which I’d like to be but ain’t!

She then suggested I take B12 supplement on the basis that the diet might be playing havoc with my levels even though we now eat *more* meat (and better quality!) than ever.

I’ve been keeping the tablets next to my desk… it looks like a chemist’s shop currently with all the other supplements I’m taking! In total I have 11 different ‘things’ to take each day. I’ll be rattling soon!

Oops… I forgot to count the antibiotics… it’s 12 things to take!

What’s worse is that the size of these things mean just taking the tablets in the morning is almost a meal in itself! :)

Had a nice long chat with the wife yesterday which was good. The eldest daughter had a good long chat this morning… which from her perspective was even better. She really misses her mum…. awwww… :)

Other than that not a lot happening. I still have an infection in my toe which stopped me from walking today tho I managed to do 30 mins pumping iron and 5 mins on an exercise bike before heading off to see the diet doctor… who was amazed  to see me. Not just because of the weight loss, but because he thought I’d dropped out of the diet altogether. Still… he was pleased with the progress so we both felt good.

From there to the GP to get antibiotics for my toe… and to make an appointment for the eldest daughter who she suspected might have thyroid problems. Won’t see her for a few weeks because she’ll be on holiday but at least the appointment is made.

And now? Well I finished my lunch… yet more soup… and am relaxing while waiting for the wife to appear online. I’m assuming she’ll stir about 6:00 a.m. (London time) which will be in an hour from now so no rush. In the meantime I’ll get some hot water and salt for my toe and soak it for a while. Can’t do any harm and it might just help.

To be fair she *was* (is?) jet lagged and had no computer access for a while. However, at least in the hotel all is sorted and we had a long chat using Google chat.

I say she was jet lagged yet she managed to meet up with a friend from our college days. She’d intended just to have lunch, but instead learned she’s organised the afternoon off so they spent a happy few hours trolling up and down Oxford Street visiting stores, drinking coffee and laughing.

Seems the wife put her foot in it by poking her tummy and enquiring if she was at last pregnant again… only to learn she wasn’t but was just a little more buxom than she remembered from the last time we all met up. In college she was thin as a pin. Times change I suppose :)

Eventually she had to go go get on with work… that is after all why she’s there… and so we had to say bye. With luck and some organisation (of which I have little) we’ll check in with each other again soon. Hope so!

I assume all is well over there. Besides, I’m not really sure when she arrives so I can’t complain about not getting a ‘safe arrival’ message! It’s a 27 hour flight if I recall correctly… so she may well not even be there until 7:00 tonight! :)

Have patience grasshopper and wisdom will come!! :)

School, gym, shop and home. An hour and it’ll be time to go out to pick the kids up again! What a day.

I was out ‘shopping’ for worms actually. The wife wants to restart her worm farm and before she left she dragged it out of it’s hiding place, cleaned it and loaded it with kitchen waste. So it’s ready to go! All it needs is worms.

The last lot of worms I bought died before they even got into the farm. I left them in the sun for a week forgetting I’d bought them until it was too late. Typical me :(

Anyway – as it happens the garden centre I went to didn’t have any worms for me to buy… so I’ll have to visit another near the school and see if there are some there.

And then? Well I pick up the kids and one does exercises at the gym while the other skates. I’ll just use the treadmill for an hour. What else is there to do??

Oh… add the worms to the worm farm? Well yes I could do that… but I have this notion that by the time we get back tonight it’ll be too dark and we’ll all be exhausted. Also there’s dinner to cook. And besides… why do today what you might feel like doing tomorrow?? :D

So far we’ve done ok! Kids were up at 6:30 a.m. grumbling and moaning as usual but after some jolly encouragement… and threats of violence… they both got up, showered and dressed.

Breakfast cooked by me with no picking! Scrambled eggs, fried eggs, hash browns, beans, spaghetti and tinned mushrooms. Not a gourmet feast admittedly, but it filled them up ready for the school day.

And now… off for school on time. Wow!! Wonders will never cease. I wonder if they’ll still be this helpful and considerate by a week Friday… or even tomorrow?? :)

Right… I’m off to drop them at school and get back to the gym regime. Ice skating and Tae-Kwon-Do tonight… then dinner and well earned sleep. Bye for now.

So the wife has left for the UK. She might even be there by now… can’t recall when she arrives. She’s dressed for the weather with woollies and a Mac and is really looking forward to two weeks of rain after all the sun we’ve had here.

We were all missing her here even before she’d left… as the gates to the boarding area closed shutting off our view of her we felt quite abandoned. Silly really but can’t be helped. She’s the centre of the family and we depend on her ‘being there’.

Either way she’s ‘over there’ working her way through the jungles of the UK business world. The old saying is that a change is as good as a rest… so we’re hoping that with a bit of luck she might find time in the middle of that heavy schedule to relax and recuperate.

It’s ‘only’ two weeks. We’ll cope… I hope!! :D
