The daughter has her ‘Year 6 Formal’ coming up. To me this seems like a blatant money grab by the school. There isn’t a ‘dance’ for them… just an evening out with their parents – seriously! What’s worse is that the cost is $85 per parent and $45 for the child. So just to go and eat somewhere… with people I hardly know… is going to cost us $210! Of course to this you have to add the cost of a ‘special frock’ for the daughter… and something for the wife and I to wear as well. I need a ‘lounge suit’ because I just don’t have one. However… I’m losing weight so anything I buy may well only be worn once or twice before I need to buy new again!!
Also you will remember (since I ramble on about it ad nauseum), I’m on a strict diet so I had to ask that *my* meal be low carb, low fat, low sodium. In practice this usually translates as salad or steamed veg. So this evening out is likely to be for me at least a bit of an expensive and somewhat pointless affair!

Hmmm… I can’t see how *us* going will improve her chances in life. It’s going to cost us around $500 for one night out… with me eating steamed veg or salad
That’s a pretty crabby investment I think!!
